ASTAROTH is a Black Metal project created as a vessel for darkness, mythology, theology and the ancient stories that have shaped humanity’s understanding of gods, demons, death and the unknown.

Musically rooted in Black Metal, ASTAROTH draws inspiration from the cold aggression and uncompromising atmosphere of the genre while refusing to remain bound to a single tradition or geographical identity. Elements reminiscent of Scandinavian Black Metal can be heard throughout the project — tremolo-driven guitars, relentless blast beats, harsh vocals and frozen melodic passages — but they represent only one part of a much broader musical and conceptual world.

At the core of ASTAROTH lies a fascination with mythology, ancient religions, forgotten gods and conflicting theological traditions.

The lyrics explore stories and beliefs from different cultures and eras, moving between divine creation, destruction, sacrifice, prophecy, war, death and the eternal struggle between mortal existence and supernatural forces. Instead of presenting one fixed mythology, ASTAROTH creates a musical realm where different civilizations, beliefs and interpretations of the supernatural can exist beside one another. Stories separated by thousands of years can share similar themes: gods demanding sacrifice, humanity challenging divine authority, civilizations fearing the end of the world, warriors seeking immortality and mortals attempting to understand what lies beyond death.

These recurring ideas form the philosophical foundation of ASTAROTH.

The name itself reflects this connection to ancient demonology and occult tradition. Astaroth, known through historical demonological writings and later occult literature, represents knowledge, forbidden wisdom and the darker reinterpretation of ancient religious figures. This transformation of gods and spiritual entities throughout history mirrors one of the project’s central themes: how humanity constantly rewrites its own mythology.

Musically, ASTAROTH combines aggression with atmosphere.

Fast tremolo-picked guitar passages and violent blast beats create moments of chaos and confrontation, while slower sections introduce a more ceremonial and monumental character. Dissonant harmonies are mixed with recurring melodic motifs, allowing songs to move between raw hostility and almost ritualistic grandeur.

The vocals serve as another layer of this atmosphere.

Harsh screams, distant voices, deep chants and dramatic vocal passages can represent different perspectives within the stories — mortals, gods, prophets, demons or unseen narrators witnessing events unfold.

Where appropriate, orchestral, choral or atmospheric elements can expand the scale of the music without removing its Black Metal foundation.

The result is music designed to feel ancient and timeless at the same moment.

A song may evoke the image of a forgotten temple buried beneath centuries of ruins, another the battlefield of legendary gods, another a religious ceremony performed beneath a darkened sky.

The visual world surrounding ASTAROTH follows the same philosophy.

Ancient temples, ruined churches, forgotten statues, sacred symbols, celestial events, fire, ash, forests, mountains and abandoned landscapes form recurring imagery. Religious and mythological iconography is not used merely for decoration but as part of the narrative universe of the project.
